According to the announcement of Managing Director of NIORDC Abbas Kazemi, new refinery will process 200 000 bpd, that will make it the largest in the oil manufacturing sector of industry in Spain. At the moment 9 refining ventures are operating in the country: 8 of them belong to Repsol and CEPSA and BP owns one.
Abbas Kazemi explained that the project is the part of Iranian strategy on refining ventures construction abroad and it will be developed along with Spanish companies. “We are conducting negotiations regarding this matter and some of the local companies have already offered their services and assistance in constructing new oil refinery,” the Managing Director of NIORDC said. Though no specific companies were mentioned, however he explained that shares will be divided between two countries in half.
From Kazemi’s perspective, refining ventures construction in other countries is the most reliable way to increase Iranian oil export.
Reportedly, Iran was also conducting talks regarding oil refineries construction in Indonesia, India and Brazil. Abbas Shari-Moqaddam, the President of the National Petrochemical Company in Iran, declared that Spain will obtain new refining venture “for sure”.
